Passages
My work reflects themes of development, transformation, and independence, and is based on a lifetime of experiences in people development. I am drawn to the natural beauty of stone, with its inherent flaws and imperfections. Much like the intricacies found in individuals, these characteristics provide a unique opportunity to create stories with these themes. Passages encapsulates the transition from confinement to liberation, portrayed through the transformation of shapes and colors in the smalti. Emerging from the confines of black cannel coal, the smalti embarks on a journey towards freedom. Negotiating through milder constraints, it progresses towards liberation, as evidenced by the gradual lightening of shades and eventual alteration of form.
