"White Steed" was the first piece created in my current series called “The Dressed Horse.” Peter Paul Ruben’s "Equestrian Portrait of the Duke of Lerma" (1603) inspired me with the elaborate detail of the trappings of a nobleman’s horse of that period. Ruben’s ability to present the horse’s beauty and strength provided me with an important steppingstone for the rest of the series.
