My inspirations for this piece were rocky patches in nature and in life. When sought, nature may reveal to us that the cracks, the breaks, the tears, the emptiness, can make room for something new. The fractures may leave open spaces to build connection and new growth, strength and resilience, even a new understanding of what it is to be beautiful.
Direct method mosaic using thinset. Tesserae included rocks, smalti, and broken pottery.
