Blowing in the wind
These mosaicked concentric circles were inspired by my love of mobiles and light-play upon images. Since I was a child I have loved mobiles and created mobiles, particularly colorful ones. It is amazing how movement and light can change an image and one’s perceptions. How light can enhance and brighten. How shadow can quiet and fade. How a soft breeze can create movement that suddenly alters one’s observation. May it be a reminder of how much perception and beauty can be influenced by a change in the wind, by looking at an object or an idea from a different angle, by pausing to watch for a few moments before settling upon a final understanding or point of view. Life, like mobiles, is always changing.
To create this mosaic I used hand carved insulation board as a base and a variety of glass tiles for tesserae. The hanging chain is steel.
